It has been an interesting couple of weeks in which we had an opportunity to hear presentations at https://app.glueup.com/event/get-started-with-ai-x-gesawards-hk-final-117359/#about-gesawards

Of all the presentations, I was very impressed by the extent of Tina Wu's engagement in the detail, and breadth of the process, for students needing to study overseas. For us it was a very interesting and complementary approach - one that fits very well with the developments we're working on for intercultural awareness programs. https://www.universitydream.co/about

In a similar vein we have had fascinating conversations with Philip Mak around how to use AI to tailor lessons to student needs. This also, and interestingly, is very compatible with the approach we have taken in Train The Teacher and MyIT around having huge resources for our tutors. We are very much looking forward to further cooperation and exploration with Philip.

An aspect of tech which was warmly human in its approach and very scientific in its precision is the work that is being carried out by Dr Shara Lee https://www.polyu.edu.hk/en/riiwear/people/ri-iwear-people/dr-shara-lee/ from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

We had a wonderful afternoon (somewhat compressed by the in-demand Shara having had media interviews prior to our meeting), but nevertheless we had a very interesting exploration of how Shara has managed a virtual reality space to both train radiographers and improve the emotional state of children who are going to experience treatment. A very impressive management of tech and attachment in a community of care givers and patients.

All in all, a very exciting two weeks in which some of the growth in education and learning suggests that Hong Kong is not asleep and is making significant progress in the world of learning and technology.
